From the lunch table to a national movement, Christine Cotton G’02 used her Elon MBA to build PORCH Communities into a nonprofit that has provided more than $15 million in hunger relief since 2010.

The recent Elon graduate and sport management professor co-published a peer-reviewed study, analyzing attendance factors in the National Women’s Soccer League.

As part of the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience poster session, held July 24 in Snow Family Grand Atrium, School of Communications students presented research on sports policy, media representation, and community issues.

The sport management major is spending the summer with NBCUniversal as a Phillies broadcast intern, shadowing different roles at Citizens Bank Park. The internship has given him opportunities to connect with veteran broadcasters, producers and writers, while researching how sports betting is shaping real-time storytelling in baseball.

Bryan ’07 and Liz Padgette ’06, Katie Sherborne P’27, and Grant P’27 and Angie Dorfman P’27 contributed more than $300,000 collectively to the new home for holistic health and well-being initiatives. Their gifts will also create scholarships for students.

The student-led crew’s victory reflects years of growth, technical excellence, and a shared commitment to capturing high-level collegiate broadcasts.
