8:30 a.m. - Faculty Line of March for New Student Convocation - RSVP and academic regalia required

Location: Near Virginia Hall and Carlton (Rain location: Gill Room, Schar Center)

Intended Audience: : Open to faculty members and administrators with faculty rank wearing academic regalia. Adding this event to your calendar does not complete the email SURVEY required to participate. The survey will be sent on or before August 1 and will close on August 18 at 11:59 p.m.

The faculty line will form on the sidewalk between Virginia Hall and Carlton Building at 8:30 a.m. Please note there is a separate email survey (emailed on or before August 1) to RSVP to march in the academic processional and reserve a seat for the ceremony. The academic processional will begin with new students arriving Under the Oaks, followed by faculty.

9:00 a.m.-10:10 a.m. - New Student Convocation - volunteers needed

Location: Under the Oaks (Rain location: Schar Center)

Intended Audience: All staff of Elon University are welcome to volunteer during the ceremony. Staff teaching Elon 1010 courses may wish to serve at the ceremony prior to advising sessions.

The New Student Convocation marks the official opening of the academic year and welcomes the Class of 2029 and transfer students. Volunteers are needed to greet guests, assist with seating and answer general questions. You can sign up to volunteer by filling out this survey. The survey will close on August 16.

 

10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. - Families Meet Advisors - Sessions (Elon 1010, Transfers and Elon Bridge Students)

Location: Various locations

Intended Audience: All Elon 1010 Instructors and Executive Director of KLC, and Academic Coordinator for Alternative Start.

Elon 1010 faculty advisors meet with the families​ of advisees in the same location as for the advisees. Families of transfer students meet in LaRose Digital Theatre, KOBC. Families of Elon Bridge students meet in McKinnon Hall, Moseley Student Center.

11:30 a.m.-12:30-p.m. - New Student Advising Sessions (Elon 1010 and Elon Bridge Students) 

Location: Various locations

Intended Audience: All Elon 1010 Instructors, Elon 1010 Peer Educators, and Academic Coordinator for Alternative Start.

Elon 1010 Faculty advising new students will meet with advisees. Meeting locations are listed in the locator guide distributed during Orientation. Elon Bridge students meet in McKinnon Hall, Moseley Student Center.

 

12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m. - Family Sendoff Picnic - RSVP to Attend

Location: West Moseley Lawn, Martin Alumni Center, West Lawn of the Koury Center (Rain plan: pick up lunch in any of the three Dining Halls, find seating in Lakeside, Moseley, McKinnon, or Alumni Gym)

Intended Audience: New Elon students and their families. Elon 1010 faculty members will receive a wristband. All other Elon employees may attend, but must complete the survey  to receive a wristband

Farewell lunch for families/students. Meal plan covers cost for student. There is a per-person fee of $20 for parents and other guests. Come enjoy a taste of Elon Dining as your students and families prepare to say goodbye for now!
