“Thank you for making the Seder feel like a little piece of home,” a student wrote us after our Passover Seder. For Elon’s Jewish students, Elon Hillel provides a welcoming home filled with Jewish friends and holiday traditions, both familiar and new.
In 2022, our annual communal Passover Seder was dedicated to the people of Ukraine, with sunflowers on every table, special readings, and a theme of Roots. This Roots seder will also be a celebration of our own gratitude for planet Earth, as this year Pesach coincides with Earth Day.
Jewish Life also offers a variety of engaging programs to prepare for the holiday, and during the week of Passover. Kosher-style meals and plenty of matza are available in the Lakeside dining hall, and strictly kosher grab-and-go meals are provided at the Fountain Market.
On Passover we ask, “why is this night different from all other nights?” Our Jewish Life team and Elon Hillel student leaders have created an incredible, innovative, joyful Passover seder, where we can celebrate the Jewish people’s journey from slavery to freedom.
To all who celebrate, we wish you all a Chag Sameach (or happy holiday). May we all value the freedoms we enjoy, and hope for greater freedom for all.
