Shabbat at Elon University

Students at Elon welcome Shabbat in a variety of ways that build community and celebrate the dynamic diversity of Jewish traditions. At Elon, we have a meaningful way to say “Shabbat Shalom” for everyone.

Hillel offers Shabbat every week, featuring a blend of music & meaning that is student-led and staff-supported. After the service, we gather for a communal meal or a festive oneg.

At these different kinds of gatherings, students may enjoy a delicious meal complete with challah, candles, kiddush, singing, and the traditional beauty of the sabbath, an oneg, or just a casual gathering in a dorm room with food and friends.

First Friday Shabbats are fun and festive meals open to all students. Our intimate Table for Chai dinners are intentionally small dinner gatherings featuring meaningful conversation and a feeling of home. Our oneg under the stars offers an opportunity to gather for sweet treats in the comfort of the backyard at the Sklut Hillel Center.
