The Elon Chapter of
the Society of Professional Journalists hosted journalism students
from nearby Western High School on the campus of Elon University
Nov. 15.
The high school students
toured student media facilities at Elon,visited with faculty and
student media leaders and were guests at a special luncheon. Speakers
at the luncheon included Paul Parsons, dean of the School of Communications,
and communications faculty members Connie Book, Brooke Barnett and
Janna Anderson.
Elon's SPJ members,
led by Kathleen Frey, sponsored a workshop on reporting and newswriting,
offering details about preparing communications copy. Other SPJ
members instrumental in planning the event were Jennifer Guarino,
Lindsay Porter and Crystal Allen.
