First-ever live webcast streamed


Professor Ray Johnson supervised as the students in JCM 355 Advanced Video Production participated in the first live, streaming webcast in the history of Elon University Nov. 14.

The students streamed a 30-minute, live newscast in November containig sports, weather and news of the Elon community. The live video was compressed by a computer in the McEwen engineering room and sent to Elon's Quicktime streaming server for distribution over the web. Software support specialist David Morton helped to direct the set-up.

Additional live, streaming shows are planned for spring semester. To view a streaming video show, you must have a high-speed Internet connection and the latest version of Quicktime, available at
