Cinelon fest features

Elon's student film organization, Cinelon, sponsored it's 2005 Film Festival in May. The films were required to be between 1 and 30 minutes in length, and they could be submitted in a DVD, mini-DV, VHS, SVHS, DVCAM or BETA format.

The winners were:

Best Picture - "The Failed Odysseus Project," Aric Berg
Best Script - Ken Kennedy and Aric Berg for "The Failed Odysseus Project"
Best Direction - Ken Kennedy and Aric Berg for "Banana Phone"
Best Use of Innovative Settings - Jason Spinos for "Human"
Best Sound Design - Ken Kennedy and Aric Berg for "Banana Phone"
Best Editing - Laith Majali for "Heavyweight"
Best Original Music - Sean Renner for "Sutra"
Best Actress - Elizabeth Oller for "Framing Silhouettes"
Best Cinematography - Raymond Wright for "Rentub"
Best Actor - Butner Brimberry for "Rentub"

The festival rules allow participation by Elon University faculty, staff and students, and alumni may also submit entries within two years of graduation. The work is evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of professors and students; they decide the programing of the festival and select the winners in various categories.

In a separate competition held earlier in the academic year, Sean Hennen wrote the winning script in the Cinelon screenwriting contest.

Current Cinelon officers include: Christopher Disher, president; Bryan Kernodle, vice president; Trent Watts, treasurer; Grace Dow, secretary.

The group's faculty adviser is School of Communications faculty member Michael Frontani.
