2007 ANAC Summer Institute Overview

Devorah Lieberman
Devorah Lieberman, Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs, Wagner College, and IReps Vice-Chair

This year’s Associated New American Colleges Summer Institute will focus on best practices in teaching and learning. We will emphasize pedagogies that build on ANAC’s tradition of integrating liberal arts and professional education to prepare our students to be global citizens. We also will explore opportunities to blur traditional classroom boundaries, bringing together curricular and co-curricular programs to connect students with communities across town and around the world.

The Institute will include three plenary speakers, multiple concurrent sessions, and a time when people with similar responsibilities (for example, student life, classroom teaching, faculty development, study abroad, library, institutional research, technology, admissions, and so on) at different ANAC institutions can talk together about common concerns and practices.

Elon University will host the 2007 ANAC Summer Institute. Elon’s beautiful campus is located in central North Carolina, less than one hour’s drive from both the Raleigh-Durham International Airport and the Piedmont Triad International Airport (Greensboro, N.C.). Participants will reside in residence halls on campus. All participant meals will be covered during the Institute, from lunch Wednesday through lunch Friday.
