Isabella
Cannon International Studies
Pavilion
The Isabella Cannon
International Studies Pavilion in the Academic Village
provides a unique opportunity for students and faculty to
further Elon's commitment to integrating learning in and
out of the classroom.
Residents of the International Pavilion (IP) will:
-
live, study and
socialize in a facility that creates, cultivates and
sustains an atmosphere for international learning while
living in a multicultural environment;
-
create an atmosphere
that encourages study abroad for its residents and promotes
study abroad and cultural understanding to the larger
campus community;
-
encourage conversational
use of the languages taught and studied on campus for the
residents and for the larger community.
Who will live in
the International Pavilion?
International students and students majoring in
International Studies, International Business or foreign
languages may apply to reside in the International Pavilion.
There is also a faculty member in residence.
What is the facility like? What about meal
plans?
The IP, which is located just east of Mooney and Duke,
consists of a two-bedroom apartment (for the resident faculty
member), a classroom, a seminar room, a student
lounge/kitchen and eleven double-occupancy rooms for
students. This physical arrangement allows for classes and
other educational and social events to be held in the
pavilion.
Please note that while the IP has a kitchen, it cannot be
used as the primary food preparation facility. You will have
access to the kitchen for snacks, occasional meals and
community events, however.
Juniors and seniors residing in the pavilion will be
required to have a minimum 5 meal per week meal plan;
freshmen and sophomores must have a 11, 14 or the unlimited
meal plan. Residents will pay the regular room rates and be
billed in the same manner as all residence hall students on
campus.
Students may rent microfridges from the Office of Residence
Life for their individual rooms. Students in the Academic
Village are subject to all campus rules and regulations. No
pets besides fish are allowed in the pavilions due to health
codes.
