Computer Lab / Printing

Computer Lab
The Elon Law Library has one public computer lab (26 PCs, HP Laser Jet printer). Our computer lab is located in the lower level of the library.

Computer Lab Hours of Operation:
The computer lab operates the same hours as the Law Library.

Printing
Several printers (HP Laser Jet printers) are located throughout the law school in the computer lab, library mezzanine, and Cemala Commons. To install and configure your personal laptop to print to these printers you need to download the appropriate device drivers. These printers can be installed from Elon's Print Managementweb site.

LexisNexis and Westlaw printers are also located outside the computer lab.

Any questions or concerns, please contact the helpdesk at X5200.

Do I need a computer for exams?

Laptop computers have become an important tool for most law students.  The vast majority of students use them to write answers to essay questions on in-class examinations.  If you choose not to use a laptop computer for examinations, you will be permitted to hand write your answers.

Students choosing to take exams on laptops are responsible for providing their own equipment.  For a laptop exam, you must use a laptop running the Windows operating system configured to use English-United States language and regional settings.  PC Laptops running Windows can be used to take in-class laptop exams, as well as the latest generation of Mac notebooks (with Intel Core Duo processor, new in Spring 2006) on which Windows is installed and running via BootCamp.  Older Macintosh laptops cannot be used to take laptop exams and using a Windows emulator is not permitted.

If you have questions about what computers are recommended please see the section below about purchasing a computer.
