The application process opens October 12, 2012 through March 22, 2013 for first-year students. There are three components to the application: (1) a letter of application, (2) a letter of recommendation from a faculty person, and (3) an interview with the Class Mentor. Applicants are notified of their acceptance status prior to preregistration for fall semester.
(1) The letter of application can be completed online below and should include the following:
a. A brief statement describing why you are interested in becoming a Periclean Scholar.
b. A brief statement identifying your strengths and how these might be useful to the Class and its projects.
c. A written response to the following prompt. Please limit your overall response to 1000 words.
Assess and reflect on a service experience you have had based on the ideas Antonio Donini presents on humanitarianism, perception and power in his chapter in In the Eyes of Others. The chapter can be found at http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/publications/book/perceptions/MSF-In-the-Eyes-of-Others.pdf on pages 183-192.
(2) A letter of recommendation should be emailed directly to Professor Post (firstname.lastname@example.org) from a faculty person chosen by the applicant. All recommendations letters must be in to Professor Post by March 22, though you are strongly encouraged to request to have these letters sent within 30 days of when you make your on line application.
(3) Applicants should sign up for an interview with Prof April Post outside her office in Carlton 318 as soon as they plan to apply. Interviews need to be completed by March 22nd.
If you have any questions, please contact Professor April Post at email@example.com.
