On Tuesday, August 20, 2013, new full-time faculty will begin the University’s year-long new faculty orientation program. New faculty will gather on the 20th at 10:00 a.m. in Belk Pavilion (not Belk Library) room 208. The President and Provost will kick-off the morning. Over lunch you will have the chance to talk with faculty who can help you navigate the launch of your Elon career. We will end the day by 3:00 p.m. with a resource fair where you will meet many of the folks who will help you do your work here. New faculty then will meet monthly through the year (dates/times are located on our Important Dates page) to talk about being an Elon teacher-scholar. In July you should receive a detailed email from Deandra Little inviting you to the new faculty orientation. If you have questions at any time, you may contact her directly.
On Tuesday, January 28, 2014, new adjunct/part-time faculty should plan to attend an orientation at 5:30 p.m. in Belk Pavilion (not Belk Library) Room 208. At this 90-minute meeting we will enjoy light snacks while talking about teaching and engaged learning at Elon. We also will share a number of resources that should be useful to you, including information about Moodle (our learning management system) and OnTrack, where you will access your class roll and submit your grades. This orientation will complement what you are receiving from your department chair, who will be able to help you understand the specifics of teaching your course at Elon. If you have general questions about teaching and learning, or about the new adjunct faculty orientation, please email Deandra Little.
