Campus Resources for Student Concerns or Students in Distress

Student Concerns Outreach is part of the comprehensive wellness services offered through the Office of the Dean of Students. Staff are available to provide guidance regarding university support resources and other processes to assist in student success. You can reach Samantha Murray, Coordinator for Student Concerns Outreach, during office hours at (336) 278-7200.

Other campus resources for support include Counseling Services and our chaplain staff in the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life. Both Counseling Services and the Truitt Center staff are also excellent resources for students in distress. To schedule an appointment with a counselor, please call (336) 278-7280 during business hours; if you have an afterhours or weekend crisis or emergency you can contact our crisis counselor on call at (336) 278-5555. The Truitt Center Staff can be reached by calling (336) 278-7729 during office hours.

The Student Life Emergency Response System is available to respond to all student emergency/crisis concerns, including incidents that occur on evenings, weekends, and over breaks. If a situation is not a medical or psychological emergency, but you need immediate administrative or clinical support, please call Campus Safety and Police (336-278-5555) to access on-call staff. The staff include the Administrator On-Call, the Crisis Counselor On-Call, the Senior Administrator On-Call and the Violence Responder On-Call. Campus Safety and Police will dispatch the most appropriate staff member for response.
