Office of Student Life

Working in Student Life at Elon University

The staff of the Division of Student Life is a close-knit, caring, and warm community of diverse individuals who are student-centered and focused on making Elon and the Division of Student Life the best it can be! Being a member of the divisional staff entails some of the following:

All staff from the division meet monthly for professional development and updates on university and division programs and business. Each summer the division engages in a fall planning retreat and ends the year with staff recognition luncheon.

All full-time administrative staff serve as part of the Administrator-On-Call (AOC) rotation. The AOC and the AOC system provide administrative assistance and support to students and their families in the event of medical or other emergencies.

To spread out helping with student life division events and assisting with other departmental events, student life staff members are assigned three outside events to work which would fall outside of their normal responisbilities and hours.  These events include assisting with Greek Recruitment, New Student Convocation, Fall Convocation, Fellows Weekend, and Commencement.

Being a member of the Elon community has its perks!

Full-time administrative staff members receive funds each semester applied to their ID card for use in dining facilities when their responsibilities require work outside normal business hours.

The Division of Student Life offers designated professional development funds for staff to attend conferences and workshops. Other Professional Development opportunities may include teaching an Elon 101 (freshman first-semester course) and Transitions Strategies (Jr. and Sr. level post-graduation planning courses) (masters levels professionals), advising student organizations, advising study abroad courses, and making use of the University’s London flats during the holiday season.
