Regional Alumni Programs Volunteer Information

Are you one of our wonderful regional volunteers, or are you interested in becoming one? Thanks so much for your interest and for devoting your time, energy and talent to the Elon. The documents below will help shed light on the many ways you can get involved with the Office of Alumni Engagement and, for current volunteers, give you the resources you need to help you and your chapter succeed.

For prospective volunteers

Alumni chapters and clubs connect and engage Elon alumni in their local communities. They are a partnership between the Office of Alumni Engagement and alumni volunteers. Below you will find a summary of regional volunteer roles, and an explanation of chapters, clubs, and regional contacts.

Regional Alumni Volunteer Role Descriptions

Alumni Chapters

  • Have a designated chapter president and 4-plus board members, depending on the size and needs of the region; president must attend annual regional leaders workshop at Elon.
  • Host at least four events per year including the Welcome to the City event, National Networking Night event, a service event and other events that fall into the categories of networking, professional development, service and reconnecting with Elon.
  • Work with the Office of Alumni Engagement to plan and implement university-sponsored events in the area.
  • Maintain a chapter Facebook page to market events to local alumni.
  • Adhere to all alumni engagement deadlines, especially submitting calendar action plans in a timely manner so events can be marketed through university resources (i.e. - two print newsletters or postcards per year, one email per month and mention in The Magazine of Elon).
  • Present one local graduate with a Chapter Member of the Year Award.

Alumni Clubs

  • Have a designated club president and 2-plus board members, depending on the size and needs of the region; who serves as a liaison between local alumni and the Office of Alumni Engagement; president must attend annual regional leaders workshop at Elon.
  • Host a Welcome to the City event and participate in National Networking Night each year.
  • Work with the Office of Alumni Engagement to plan and implement university-sponsored events in the area.
  • Adhere to all alumni engagement deadlines, especially submitting calendar action plans in a timely manner so events can be marketed through university resources (i.e. - one print newsletter or postcard per year, one email per month and mention in The Magazine of Elon).


Regional Area Contacts

  • Serve as resources for current Elon students and alumni seeking employment or relocation information about the area.
  • Work with the Office of Alumni Engagement to plan and impement university-sponsored events in the area.
  • Occassionally help plan and host events for alumni in your area.
