Elon offers an innovative approach to the study of law, grounded in a rigorous core curriculum and enriched through programs that connect students to the profession from the outset of their legal education.
Students master the fundamentals of law and skills in legal analysis, research, and advocacy through courses that enhance the classical study of law through client simulations, extensive trial practice, field-based experiences, and regular interaction with practicing attorneys, judges, and leaders in business and public life.
Elon's Preceptor Program connects attorneys with students in a mentoring relationship that introduces students to business and professional dimensions of law. Preceptors invite students to accompany them to observe trials, client interviews, depositions, and mediations among other things. Students receive advice and guidance about the profession from the moment they enter law school.
Through the law school's Leadership Program, students prepare to become lawyers who can excel at the highest levels of the profession and contribute to solving regional, national and global challenges. The program emphasizes direct client engagement, teamwork, project management, exploration of the ethical foundations of law, and development of communications and interpersonal skills important to success in the profession.
The faculty, students and alumni of Elon Law contribute to the improvement of law and policy through cutting-edge scholarship, significant professional service, and outstanding achievement in their areas of practice.
Each class of students at Elon Law contributes more than 20,000 hours of community service across three years of law study through the school's clinics, programs, classes, and student-led volunteer initiatives.
