Class of 2016 Class representatives
The Representatives for the 2013-2014 academic year are Sarah Brown, Matt Millsor & Deborah Moy.
Meet Blakeney Brown,
2014's First Featured Student of the Month!!!
Each month, the SBA representatives select a different student from their class to highlight. For January 2014, Blakeney Brown was selected.
Blakeney graduated from Ashbrook High School in Gastonia, North Carolina, south of Charlotte. In high school, Blakeney's interest in AP Government and Politics provided the foundation for her to attend Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC. While in college, Blakeney enjoyed participating in Wake Forest's Dance Team. In preparation for law school, she achieved an undergraduate degree in Political Science.
Blakeney decided to attend Elon Law because it is relatively new. She is particularly interested in Elon Law's innovative approach to the study of law. In addition, being a part of a school that is forming its own reputation and defining itself, while being held to the same standards of other, more established law schools, interests Blakeney. Furthermore, the supportive community she finds at Elon differs significantly from the horror stories of other law schools' harsh competition.
Blakeney's favorite subjects are Contracts and Legal Method and Communication. Specifically, she enjoys these classes because Professors Levine and McCrickard have their own unique approach to their respective subject, which makes classroom discussions interesting and compelling.
When asked what facet of law Blakeney will practice, she had this to say: "I have a few ideas about the areas of law that I want to go into, but those options are constantly changing. As of right now, I am looking into civil rights, intellectual property, or sports and entertainment law. However, these areas of law may change during my time here at Elon."
