Brooke Buffington, Associate Director of Career Services for the Love School of Business

Brooke earned her BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her MA from Wake Forest University.  For the past 8 years, she has worked at both Clemson University and Wake Forest University in career advising and counseling.

Chrystal Carpenter  -  University Archivist

Chrystal is an ACA Certified Archivist who holds both Bachelor’s (Anthropology) and Master’s (Information Resources & Library Science) degrees from the University of Arizona. Chrystal served most recently as the Director of Archives and Library Services at the multidisciplinary genomic-focused J. Craig Venter Institute in La Jolla, California.  Prior to that, she held archives-related positions at the Arizona State Museum and the University of Arizona. Chrystal joined Belk Library on July 27th, where she will provide leadership and management for all operations of the university archives and special collections, and serve as a member of the library’s leadership team.

Elizabeth Coder,  Assistant Director of New Student & Transition Programs and Coordinator of Gap Programs

Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Auburn University (War Eagle!) and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Columbia University. After graduate school, she completed three terms of service with the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, serving in Alaska, California, Washington, and Utah.  Prior to joining Elon she was the onsite director of Northwestern University’s study abroad programs for first year students in Ireland and Greece. She has extensive experience in study abroad, service learning, and first year program. She has been recognized with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for completing more than 4,000 hours of community service. Elizabeth is also a lover of all things international and travel-related, having visited, lived, or volunteered in 46 countries, 6 continents, and 48 out of the 50 states.

Nick Cook ’15, Admissions Counselor

A BFA Acting major with a communications minor, Nick served his alma mater as an Orientation Leader and was president of Vital Signs.  Nick interned while abroad in London at The Space Theatre and locally here in admissions.  A graduate of Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School in Kernersville, NC, Nick will represent his alma mater in North Carolina West of Elon and in SC and TN.

 

Conner Croxson, Alumni Engagement Officer

Conner is a 2015 graduate of Elon and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. During her four years at Elon, Conner was a Leadership Fellow, Executive Intern for Dr. Francis, a leader on the Senior Class Giving team, a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and a student staff member at Campus Recreation.

 

Jordan Joshua, Alumni Engagement Officer

Jordan is a 2014 graduate of Elon and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree with a concentration of Finance and a minor in Sociology. He began his professional career in sales with E&J Gallo Winery’s Management Development Program. While at Elon University, Jordan was an Odyssey Scholar, Admissions Tour Guide, and served in multiple leadership roles.

 

Dan Faill, Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life

Dan comes to Elon from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA, where he was the Assistant Director of the Office of Student Leadership & Development. Dan was at LMU from 2007 until this summer and brings a plethora of experience and accolades in Fraternity and Sorority Life to Elon.  He has been honored with the Education of the Whole Person Award at LMU and the CAMPUSPEAK Facilitator of the Year. Dan served in several student affairs positions prior to LMU, as a leadership and education consultant, a residence director in Greek housing, and in alumni relations. He holds a M.A. in Educational Administration and Leadership from the University of the Pacific and a B.A. in Communication Studies with a Leadership Minor from UNC-Wilmington.

Meir Goldstein, Associate Chaplain of Jewish Life

Meir comes to us from the Pardes Jewish Day School in Phoenix, AZ where he was the Director of Jewish Life and Learning.  He has led Jewish communities in capacities such as: a high school teacher in Los Angeles, a University Hebrew teacher, a camp counselor, a pulpit rabbi, and as the Hillel Program Director at the Arizona State University. He was educated at the Ziegler Rabbinic School of the American Jewish University, the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, and the University of Arizona where he majored in Anthropology with a dual focus on the Religions of India and Social Theory.  He has extensive experience in multi-faith work as well as in building Jewish Community.

Joshua Gresh – Assistant Director of Communications for Athletics

Joshua joins us from Wake Forest University where he served as Assistant Director for Athletic Communications.  Joshua holds a B.A. Degree from Baldwin Wallace University with a double major in Sport Management and Public Relations.

Cassie Lott, Systems Administrator

Cassie is a 2010 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke as a Bachelor of Information Science. She comes to us from Duke University as a Team Lead in the Division of Student Affairs.  Her skillset and track record as an effective Systems Administrator and Project Manager will bring added depth to the department.

 

Amber McCraw, Assistant Director of Career Services for the School of Communications

Amber was a Career Advising Fellow at Elon during the 2014-15 academic year.  She earned a BS and a BA degrees from NCSU and an M.Ed. from the University of Georgia.  Amber’s office will be located in McEwen 109.

Larry Mellinger, Director of Campus Recreation

Larry joins the Elon family after working at the University of Wisconsin – Stout as the Assistant Director of Recreation since 2012.  Larry has an impressive depth of knowledge and passion for the recreational sports field. He has worked at the University of Vermont as the Associate Director of Campus Recreation, at Towson University as the Assistant Director of Recreational Services and adjunct faculty in the Kinesiology Department, and at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater as Coordinator of Recreational Sports.  He has been an active member of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) since 2000 and served on numerous professional committees. He is committed to developing and implementing creative and comprehensive programming and services in all components of Campus Recreation that reflect the needs and desires of an ever-evolving campus.  He holds a B.S. in Recreation Management and M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Ohio University.

David L. Morrow II ’07, L’10, Special Advisor to the President and Assistant Chief of Staff

Dave earned his undergraduate degree from Elon in 2007 and his law degree from Elon University School of Law in 2010. He returns to Elon from PayPal, Inc., where he served as Legal Counsel. Prior to joining PayPal, Inc., he was an attorney in the Washington, D.C. office of BuckleySandler LLP, where he assisted clients in the financial services industry. Following law school, he worked for the Hon. Anna Blackburne-Rigsby of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and also served as a law clerk for BB&T Corporation, U.S. Rep. Yvette D. Clarke (N.Y.) and the North Carolina Supreme Court. He has been honored by the National Bar Association with a "Top 40 Under 40 Attorneys" award and the Junius W. Williams "Young Lawyer of the Year" award. Dave will support the office's work with external constituents, developing white papers and communications, coordinating councils and meetings, planning events and working on other special office initiatives.

Syretta Oliver, Technician 

Syretta began working for Elon in 2004 at the Technology Helpdesk and later transitioned to the Law School as the Technology Support Specialist.  During her ten years at Elon she enjoyed providing technical support and helping others achieve their project goals. Syretta left Elon for a short year and now returns to us in a Technician role providing technical support for the main campus. In Syretta's spare time you can find her baking, shopping and spending time with her family.

 

Jesse Parrish, Assistant Registrar

Jesse comes to us from the Registrar’s Office of Georgia Institute of Technology, where  he served as an Academic Assistant designing new workflows and web applications. Jesse is fluent in Spanish and has prior experience working as an elementary school teacher through the Teach for America program.  Jesse is an honors graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from The University of Georgia. Jesse’s responsibilities include NCAA compliance and certification, assisting with summer school marketing and management, oversight of grade changes and academic standing computations, SmartCatalog, international transfer credit (backup), and assisting with our ongoing improvements in technology.

Micah Posey, Assistant Baseball Coach 

Micah Posey hails from Tallahassee, Florida and received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Florida State University. In his free time, he enjoys hunting and spending time with his wife, Julie, and his cat, Tina. He is excited to work at a great academic institution with a great baseball program.

 

 

Brandy Propst, Director of Elon 101

Brandy received a B.A in sociology and African American studies and an M.Ed. in student personnel administration in higher education, both from UNC-Greensboro. While later working at UNCG, Brandy coordinated their academic foundations and mentoring program in the Students First Office. Managing all curricular and co-curricular development and programming, she trained and supported both instructors and peer mentors to teach their foundations for learning first-year courses.

 

Stacey Rusterholz, Campus Kitchen Coordinator in the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement and Assistant to the Director of the Center for Leadership 

Stacey holds a B.A. in Psychology from Elon University and is pursuing a M.Ed. in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She previously served as a fellow in Elon’s Center for Leadership. She has also worked as a family intervention specialist for emotionally and behaviorally troubled children. Stacey brings a wealth of experience in the areas of student organization advising, student leadership training and development, and experiential learning.

Deidra Smith - Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement

Deidra is a 2014 graduate of Appalachian State University and holds a M.Ed. in College Student Affairs Administration from The University of Georgia. After completing her graduate assistantship at The University of Georgia she has spent the last three years at the Georgia Institute of Technology working in the Alumni Association focused on student engagement.

Anna Torres-Zeb, Muslim Life Coordinator   

Anna Torres-Zeb comes to Elon from San Diego, CA where she worked as a middle school English and History teacher at the Islamic School of San Diego. She has served on the Interfaith Outreach Committee of the Islamic Center of San Diego, and as an instructor and presenter of the traditions and faith of Islam. Anna has served as a youth leader and mentor through the Muslim American Society. She has participated in many interfaith dialogues, and is frequently asked to present at local schools, churches, and community centers. She has organized interfaith events and friendship building initiatives with youth of Muslim, Jewish and Christian backgrounds.  Anna earned degrees from the University of California, San Diego (BA in Religion, with minors in Political Science and Education), a Masters in Social Sciences and Comparative Education from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an Education Specialist teaching credential from San Diego State University. This fall, Anna also will be teaching an introductory course on Islamic Beliefs through the Osher Institute at Duke University. Anna lives in Morrisville, NC with her husband, Adeel.

Courtney Vaughn ’15, Admissions Counselor

Courtney graduated with a B.S. in Marketing from the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business.  As a Communications minor, Courtney engaged in Live Oak Communications and was a social media marketing intern for Fade2Blac Video and Event Productions, Inc.  Courtney was Communications Vice Chair for the highly successful senior class gift campaign and served as a University Guide/Diversity Ambassador in the Office of Admissions.  A native of the Baltimore area, Courtney will represent Elon in MD, DE and Washington, DC.

Cristina Vega, Assistant Director of Residence Life – Colonnades

Cristina Vega is a 2015 graduate of the University of Vermont where served as an assistant residence director for the Residential Life Office while earning her M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration.  As a staff member in the Greenhouse Residential Learning Community at UVM, she worked closely with faculty, and supervised, and mentored students towards academic and co-curricular engagement. She also worked with New Student Orientation and Fraternity and Sorority Life as a parents and families coordinator and graduate advisor. Cristina holds a B.A. in Communications from the Florida Gulf Coast University. She brings a strong commitment to social justice and student engagement.

Randall Williams, Director of Student Conduct 

Originally from Fayetteville, Randall completed both his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Appalachian State.  Randall then started his professional career in Residence Life at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville before working in Residence Life and then Student Conduct at Winston Salem State University. He comes to us from Clemson University where he served as Senior Associate Director in their Office of Community and Ethical Standards.  He is an avid sports fan, enjoys traveling, and invites you to engage him in a conversation about his love of music.

Henry Zapata, Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach

Henry holds a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism and a Master of Science in Sport Management from the University of Illinois.  Henry joins us from the University of Massachusetts where he served as Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach.

Christian joins us from the Mississippi Tennis Academy where he served as a Teaching Professional.  Christian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Mississippi College.

Carolyn J. Byrne, VISTA Program Coordinator, North Carolina Campus Compact

Carolyn has a B.S., Elon University and an M.S. from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She joins us from Students First Office at UNCG as a case manager and formerly with the Carolina Center for Public Service, UNC-Chapel Hill. After graduating from Elon University, Carolyn served as a North Carolina Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA with UNC Chapel Hill with their APPLES Service Learning program.

 

Cesar Vargas, Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach

Cesar joins us from the University of South Carolina Upstate where he served as Assistant Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach.  Caesar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska with dual majors in International Business and Marketing.

Morgan Benton, Custodian – Day Porter

Morgan began working with the ENVS department on 6/29 and takes over a new portering position covering a 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. time slot.  Her primary responsibilities will be to monitor the Inman Admissions building, with additional coverage in the Moseley Center; Belk Library; and Koury Athletic Center.  Morgan is a graduate of Southern Alamance High School and brings to us a wealth of customer service experience.  Morgan resides in Haw River, NC.

 

James Blaylock, Painter

James is originally from Burlington, North Carolina. Before coming to Elon, he was the owner of Colorworx of Elon. He lives with Kim Limbach and has four children, five dogs and three cats. When he isn’t working, he enjoys softball, auto racing, and working as a volunteer firefighter for the Elon Fire Department. He looks forward to working for Elon because he loves the city.

James is originally from Reidsville, North Carolina.  Before coming to Elon, he was employed by the U.S. Army and the Sheriff’s Office of North Carolina. He lives with his wife, Erma. He looks forward to working at Elon because it is close to home and because he has heard it is a great place to work.

Drew joins us from Robert Morris University where he served as Football Equipment Manager. Drew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management from Robert Morris University, Moon Township, PA.

 

 

Leslie Johnson, Ticket Office Assistant 

Leslie holds a B.S.B.A. degree in Marketing, with a Concentration in Sales from Elon University.  Prior to joining us at Elon, Leslie served as Marketing and Media Coordinator at Smith Marketing, Inc. in Greensboro, NC.
