The new year always signals a time of renewal and reflection, and winter term at Elon is no different. Our four week-term encourages the exploration of new interests and experiences, whether your student is learning about civil rights by visiting Nelson Mandela’s prison cell in South Africa or using a simulation program on campus to research how local governments will handle future challenges. The new year also means some exciting changes to our campus facilities. A new dining hall will offer views of Lake Mary Nell and feature an international-themed cafe, a winter garden, and a large conference facility that will provide additional space for campus programs. In April, Elon will dedicate the Numen Lumen Pavilion, a multi-faith center in the heart of campus that offers a space for prayer, meditation and reflection. Before we know it, Elon will be preparing to hold its 123rd Commencement ceremony on May 25. Brian Williams, anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News and an Elon parent, will deliver this year’s commencement address. Be sure to visit our Commencement website regarding activities, scheduling and other information pertaining to this memorable weekend. I hope to see you on campus soon!
