Between two and four million Americans suffer from the large category of disease conditions known as dementia. Kramer, a professor of neuroscience, and students and colleagues at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology are working to determine effective interventions to enhance cognition. Their research suggests that maintaining brain function may work much like retaining muscle function.
