Identity Standards :: Typefaces

Bembo & Myriad

Font selection is a key component of successful communications. Typography should work in concert with photography, graphic elements, text and overall design to help describe and define the University brand. The glyphs in Elon’s identity system are derived from the typeface Bembo, a revival of a classic serif old-style typeface originally cut by Francesco Griffo in Italy circa 1495. Use of this typeface for headings and body type strengthens the university’s visual brand. Myriad Pro is a sans-serif typeface that complements Bembo’s shape and weight. It is best used for headers, footnotes and sidebar body text typesetting.
