Meet the CAT Mentors

Margo Buchanan (she/her)
Hello! My name is Margo Buchanan and I’m from Raleigh, NC. I am a junior Elon College Fellow double majoring in theatrical design and technology and political science. This is my third year being a CAT Mentor and I’m also an office assistant for Elon Academy! On campus I’m involved with German Club and NewWorks, a student run theater group. Outside of school I like to read, go hiking, and watch movies. I’m super excited to continue working with Elon Academy and EA scholars this semester!

Jada Moody (she/her)
Hello! My name is Jada Moody, and I am from Rocky Mount, NC. I am majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Data Science. This is my second year being a CAT mentor and I am excited to be a part of this amazing program! I also work as an office assistant for Elon Academy. In my free time, I love binge watching shows on Netflix, spending time with family and friends, drawing and listening to music. I really love helping and watching others grow and I cannot wait to start working with Elon Academy again!

Danny Gutierrez (he/they)
Hello! My name is Danny Gutierrez, I am a communication design major and I am from Burlington, NC. I graduated from the Alamance Burlington Early College with an Associate in Arts and I’m working toward my bachelors degree as an Odyssey scholar and Communications Fellow. I was a part of the Mu class in Elon Academy. I host a radio show on campus and I’m always working on new art projects. Creating and curating is what I love most. I’m truly excited to be a CAT mentor, I remember mine fondly. This is my 3rd year as a CAT Mentor.

Rob Babcock (he/him)
Hey all, my name is Rob Babcock and I am a senior from Easton, CT. I am double majoring in Finance and Political Science with hopes of finding a career in corporate finance or wealth management. Over the past summers, I have been working at a small business in Connecticut and have developed a deep understanding of the business world. I spent a semester in Italy experiencing the culture and amazing opportunities. In my free time I love watching football, playing basketball with friends and cooking. I can’t wait to work with the Elon Academy scholars and the entire team!

Sidra Kennedy (she/her)
Hello! I am Sidra Kennedy, a senior at Elon. I am from Cary, North Carolina and I’m studying Policy Studies and Human Service Studies with a minor in Teaching and Learning. I am a Periclean scholar and a Change Maker Scholar. I am very involved on campus being a facilitator for Barefoot Dialouge, a mentor for East Neighborhood, an Orientation Leader, serving on multiple committees within my sorority, Delta Delta Delta Epsilon Delta chapter, a member of Hillel, and a part of the Peace Corps Preps program. I like to stay connected to the local community of Alamance County by volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club. In my free time, I enjoy reading, exploring nature, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family. As I am so passionate about education, and hope to pursue a career within it, I am excited to get to work with Elon Academy!!

Hannah Hanson (she/her)
Hello! I am Hannah Hanson, a Junior Secondary English Education Major here at Elon University. This is my first year being an Elon Academy CAT mentor, and I am so excited to meet everyone and build meaningful connections. For the past few years at Elon, I have worked at the Curriculum Resources Center in the School of Education as an Elon 1010 Peer Educator and, most recently, a Writing Center Consultant. I love the Elon community and helping people thrive here and in life. Outside of Elon, I love to be outdoors, move my body, read, listen to music, and eat lots of delicious food.

DeMya Culp (she/her)
Hello! My name is DeMya Culp and I am a senior Arts Administration and Drama & Theater Studies double major! I am pursuing a career in the arts business, but I also love to be on-stage for myself when I’m a part of Melanated Melodies, the premier all-black acapella group on campus. I also love to shine in Elon Muses, the premier show choir at Elon! I also am involved in Campus Outreach, a christian organization here, on my days off. Whenever I’m not performing or singing, I love to write stories, poetry, and watch Netflix. Sometimes, I even like taking a break and just relaxing under the sun. This is my first time being a CAT mentor, and I’m super excited to get started!

Emma Puleo (she/her)
Hi everyone! My name is Emma Puleo and I’m from Annapolis, MD. I’m currently a senior and Odyssey Scholar majoring in chemistry with a minor in mathematics. This is my first year as a CAT mentor but it’ll be my 4th year with Elon Academy as an academic coach! In my free time, you can catch me in the chemistry labs, at work at the Mission, or helping my fellow peers. I love to cook, binge watch tv shows, and spend time with my friends and my furbaby, Poko! I absolutely love every second of being a mentor as I’ve been a mentor for incoming Odyssey scholars and I can’t wait to share that passion with Elon Academy this year 🙂

Natalia Sendawy (she/her)
Hello! My name is Natalia Sendawy and I am a sophomore at Elon from Bergen County, New Jersey. I am majoring in Biology with a double minor in Exercise Science and Public Health. I am an Accelerated Pathway to PA student. On campus, I am involved with the Sports Management Society, club soccer, club ice hockey, and I am on the board of the Diabetes Link at Elon. In my free time, I enjoy playing the guitar, listening to music, baking, and hanging out with friends. I am super excited to work with Elon Academy and EA scholars this semester!

Faith Almond (she/her)
Hello! My name is Faith Almond and I am from Apex, North Carolina. I am a sophomore Creative Writing major with minors in Spanish and Music. I am an Elon College Fellow, an avid member of Elon’s band program, and an RA in the Colonnades neighborhood. I am also studying abroad in J-term of 2024 to Spain and Morocco! Outside of school, I love to read, write, play piano, do puzzles, and hang out with my dogs. This will be my first year as a CAT Mentor and I am very excited to meet everyone!

Brandon Fowlin (he/him)
Hey y’all! My name is Brandon Fowlin, I’m a senior Odyssey Scholar here at Elon, and I’m from Cary, NC. Currently, I’m majoring in Public Health with minors in Neuroscience and Policy Studies, and I hope to get into the medical field after graduation. I am very involved on campus, having served on SGA, volunteered with APO/Elon Volunteers, and conducted undergraduate research thus far in my college career. In my free time, I love to play tennis, hike, hang out with friends, and watch movies. I am looking forward to working with you all in the Elon Academy, and I cannot wait for what the year brings as a CAT Mentor.

Steven Mmari (he/him)
Howdy, My name is Steven Mmari and I am from DeLand, Florida. I’m an Odyssey Scholar Major in Media Analytics and Minor in Jazz Studies. On campus I am a part of the first all-black a Capella group on campus called Melanated Melodies as well as the Vice President of Community Outreach and Activism for the BSU. On my free time I like playing saxophone or getting active however I can. I worked with Elon Academy as an Office Assistant over the past two summer and not having been exposed to that is was awesome the impact. I extremely looking forward to being a CAT mentor and work with everyone for the first time!

Julianna Millett (she/her)
Hi! My name is Julianna Millett, and I am from Baltimore, MD. I am a sophomore at Elon and am majoring in biomedical engineering. I am the president of The Diabetes Link at Elon and spent a lot of my life volunteering with the American Diabetes Association. This is my first time being a CAT mentor and I am so excited! In my free time I like to spend time with friends and play piano. I love growing beside people and can’t wait to see what this year brings!

Connor Vaughn (he/him)
Hi guys, my name is Connor Vaughn and I’m a sophomore at Elon this year. I’m from Charlotte, NC and a double major in History Secondary Education and Political Science. This past summer I worked with EA’s summer program and I just wanted to take this opportunity to continue building on the connections I made, as well as providing insight into the college application process! In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching TV, playing soccer, and playing video games. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the scholars again and just being able to build on top of the relationships I’ve already formed!

Yadira Fernandez Delgado (she/her)
Hey! My Name is Yadira Fernandez Delgado, and I am from Winston Salem, NC. I am a 3rd year Finance major, and part of the 3+1 Accelerated Dual Degree Program on the Business Analytics track. I am an Odyssey Scholar and a First Gen. I stay involved on campus as President of the Latinx-Hispanic Union and as a member of multiple clubs on campus. In my free time, I love hanging out with family and friends, listening to music, trying and doing new things. Can cannot wait to meet you and be a help for you in any way!

Marques Walker (he/him)
Hello! I am Marques Walker, I am a junior from Richmond, VA. Majoring in Data Analytics with minors in Leadership Studies and Finance. I am a Odyssey Scholar and Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellow. On campus I work for Elon Learning Assistance, Campus Recreation & Wellness and iBelong Male Mentoring Program. I am the financial chair for my fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha – the Sigma Delta chapter. In my free time I enjoy playing basketball, reading, and watching movies. This is my first year with Elon Academy and I can’t wait to get started!
