Hi! My name is Abby Weaver and I’m a senior Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellow. I am majoring in Strategic Communications with minors in Leadership Studies, Spanish and Sport Management. I’ve served as Panhellenic Delegate for my sorority, promotions director for WSOE 89.3 and work as a Lead Ambassador at the Student Professional Development Center. I’m very excited to be able to serve in this role and aid students in their college search process.

Hello! My name is Alexa Goldberg and I am a junior teaching fellow at Elon University. I am a Mathematics with Teacher Licensure major from the suburbs of Philadelphia and this will be my third year working with Elon Academy. Serving as an Academic Coach for the past two years has been an enormous pleasure and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the intelligent and dedicated scholars. At Elon I am also an ambassador for the school of education. In my free time, I love to dance, screen print t-shirts, listen to music, take long walks, and binge-watch Netflix. Lastly, I am so excited to work with the Elon Academy Scholars this fall!

Hello! My name is Danny Gutierrez, I am a communication design major and I am from Burlington, NC. I graduated from the Alamance Burlington Early College with an Associate in Arts and I’m working toward my bachelors degree as an Odyssey scholar and Communications Fellow. I was a part of the Mu class in Elon Academy. I host a radio show on campus and I’m always working on new art projects. Creating and curating is what I love most. I’m truly excited to be a CAT mentor, I remember mine fondly.

Hi, my name is Haden Cunningham, and I am a sophomore from Austin, Texas. I chose to come to Elon because the second I stepped on this campus, I felt at home and have loved this school ever since. I am majoring in psychology and minoring in criminal justice. This is my first year being a mentor with Elon Academy, and I am incredibly excited to be apart of such a fantastic program. In my hometown, I am apart of a similar mentor program, but I work with elementary school students. During my first year at Elon, I was apart of a Global Neighborhood Ambassador Program, which involved planning and running certain events for the students at Elon. I am incredibly passionate about helping and teaching other people and have always known I want to be an educator of some sort. I am looking forward to an incredible year with the CAT Mentor team!

Hi! My name is Jose Alex Reyes, and I am a First-Year Student from Burlington, NC. I graduated from Cummings High School, and I plan to double major in Communication Design and Strategic Communications. I was a part of the Nu Class in Elon Academy, and I am now an Odyssey and Communication Fellows Scholar! I enjoy being involved in Elon organizations such as The Village Project and the Latinx-Hispanic Union because they play a prominent role with my identity and allow me to be involved with my community. In my free time, I love sketching, writing, traveling, and doing film photography with my friends. I am super excited to be working with the Elon Academy Team and being a CAT Mentor!

What’s up?! My name is Kai Whiteside and I’m a freshman Odyssey Scholar from Apex, NC. I’m double majoring in English (concentration in creative writing) and Cinema and Television Arts. When I’m not eating Bojangles or studying, I love to be involved with various programs through Elon Student Television including Elon Tonight. It gives me the creative space to write, direct, and produce films with my peers! Along with film making, I love photography and skateboarding. As someone with the same personality type as Spider-Man, I can confidently say I’m extroverted and love building connections with others! In Stan Lee’s words “With great power comes great responsibility.” With that in mind, I am beyond excited to be a CAT mentor and help empower future scholars to reach their dreams!

Hello! My name is Keri Anderson and I am from Maryland. I am a first-year at Elon double majoring in Acting and Arts Administration. This will be my first semester working with the Elon Academy. On-campus, I am heavily involved in the performing arts program, including Renegade Productions and NewWorks. When I am not on stage, you can find me working the Performing Arts Box Office at one of our mainstage shows. Besides performing, I also love to bake, travel, and collect snow globes. I am so excited to begin my work as a CAT Mentor and I cannot wait to meet the Elon Academy scholars this spring!

Hi! My name is Lindsey Schroeder and I am currently a junior at Elon University. I am from northern New Jersey, only a 30 minute drive from New York City. I am majoring in Cinema and Television Arts with a minor in Human Service Studies. This is my second year as a CAT Mentor with Elon Academy, and I cannot wait for what the upcoming year has in store. In addition to being a CAT mentor I am also in a sorority and a producer of Elon After Hours. Although my major falls within a Communications focus, I am very passionate about education and working with individuals to help them succeed. I am looking forward to mentoring younger scholars and watching individuals grow and achieve greater measures. I am excited for the upcoming months and my time with Elon Academy!

Hi everyone! My name is Madi McDermott and I am from Leesburg, Virginia. I’m a junior majoring in English with a concentration in education. While at Elon, I serve as a writing center consultant, orientation leader, and have been both a tutor and teacher’s assistant for astronomy. I am also a member of the club dressage team and am the Sustainability Chair of my sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi. Outside of school, I love to ride my horse, Zulla, who comes to school with me! I also love reading, hiking, taking pictures with my film camera, and going to concerts. Music means everything to me, especially acoustic, alternative. I’m so looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi! My name is Maggie Smith and I am a junior at Elon University from Haddonfield, NJ. I am majoring in Strategic Communications and minoring in Professional Sales as a Communications Fellow. This is my second year as a CAT Mentor. Along with being a CAT Mentor, I am the Assistant Agency Director for Live Oak Communications and a writer for The Edge Magazine. I have always been extremely passionate about volunteer work and giving back to the community, and I am so excited to start working with Elon Academy and connecting with the students there!

Hello! My name is Margo Buchanan and I’m from Raleigh, NC. I am a first year Elon College Fellow double majoring in theatrical design and technology and political science. My concentration is technical direction, so I often volunteer in the shop building sets for Elon’s performances. On campus I am also involved in the Fire of the Carolinas Marching Band (playing piccolo and flute!), and I work as the office assistant to the Elon Academy. Outside of school I like to read, go hiking, and watch movies with my friends. I’m super excited to continue working with the Elon Academy and getting to work with EA scholars this semester!

Hi! My name is Martha Lopez Lavias and I am from the Alamance County area. I recently graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Art, as well as minored in Justice and Peace Studies. During my time on my undergraduate campus, I was involved in a college mentoring program for high school students, a student advocacy group, and two institutional programs that support first-generation & low-income students. I am now at Elon pursuing my Master of Arts in Higher Education, where I am also the graduate apprentice for the Odyssey Program! My passion for supporting underrepresented students on their journey to and through college has fueled my desire to entire the higher education field. I am very excited to continue my involvement with the Elon Academy this academic year, both as an instructor and a CAT Mentor!

Hello! My name is Mary Bell and I am a senior here at Elon. I’m from New Jersey, and although sometimes I miss home, I’ve completely fallen in love with North Carolina and plan on staying here! I am a Psychology major, with a minor in Neuroscience. After graduating, I plan on going to grad school to get my PhD in Clinical Psychology, to work as a licensed therapist. I am a passionate mental health advocate! On campus, I’m in the pre-health cohort for students pursuing medical professions, and I’m also a tour guide. I absolutely love traveling, my goal is to visit all seven continents (so far I’ve been to 4). My studies are very important to me, but when I’m not in the library I also like to run, bake, and listen to the Mamma Mia soundtrack on repeat. This is my second year as a CAT mentor and I am so excited for this new year with Elon Academy!

Hey all, my name is Rob Babcock and I am a sophomore from Easton, CT. I am double majoring in Finance and Marketing with hopes of finding a career in corporate finance or marketing. Over the past summers I have been working at a small business in Connecticut and have developed a deep understanding of the business world. On campus I am a member of Campus Outreach as well as College Republicans. I am also going to be part of a Winter Term study abroad traveling to China to experience the culture and history. In my free time I love watching football, playing basketball with friends and cooking. I can’t wait to work with the Elon Academy scholars and the entire team!

Hello! I am Sidra Kennedy, a sophomore at Elon. I am from Cary, North Carolina and I’m studying Policy Studies and Human Service Studies with a minor in Teaching and Learning. I am a Periclean scholar and a Change Maker Scholar. I am very involved on campus being a facilitator for Barefoot Dialouge, a mentor for East Neighborhood, an Orientation Leader, serving on multiple committees within my sorority, Delta Delta Delta Epsilon Delta chapter, a member of Hillel, and a part of the Peace Corps Preps program. I like to stay connected to the local community of Alamance County by volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club. In my free time, I enjoy reading, exploring nature, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family. As I am so passionate about education, and hope to pursue a career within it, I am excited to get to work with Elon Acadmey!!
