Student Employment Opportunities

Academic Coach

Coaches tutor and generally support Elon Academy scholars in their regular high school coursework. We provide coaches on an as-needed basis when a scholar indicates a need for help and a coaching schedule can be arranged. Coaches can meet with students virtually or in-person around Elon’s campus, and the hours are flexible depending on how many scholars a coach chooses to take on. We have a special need for coaches skilled in Math and/or Science subjects. Apply on the Elon Job Network (EJN) under posting “Elon Academy Academic Coach“. Academic Coach positions are open until filled.

College Access Team (CAT) Mentors

College Access Team (CAT) Mentors guide scholars in their efforts to achieve academic excellence and prepare for college. CAT Mentors schedule three “face-to-face” meetings with scholars each semester. Each interaction between scholar and CAT Mentor ensures that scholars are on track, working on college-readiness skills, and receiving academic coaching and/or counseling as needed. Guidance and advice are offered on a variety of topics ranging from study skills and college essays, to high school course selection and “what to expect once in college.” Starting rate of pay: $12 per hour. Positions for Spring 2024 have been filled. Please check our website in late spring for positions available in Fall 2024.

Summer Mentors

All Elon Academy mentors are current college students or recent alumni who are Elon University students and/or Elon Academy college scholars. Elon Academy mentors serve as role models for Elon Academy scholars through interaction inside and outside of the classroom. Elon Academy mentors live in the residence halls with the scholars, and assist with the planning and implementation of field trips, college visits, evening curriculum, and other engaging aspects of the Elon Academy. For the 2024 three-week residential summer program, Elon Academy mentors will also serve as peer group leaders. The role of the peer mentor is central to our work with the HS students.  You would be assigned a peer group to lead for the entire 3 weeks. This is an important opportunity for you to develop deep relationships with these near-peers and to have a substantial impact on their lives. Positions for 2024 have been filled. Please check our website in late fall for positions available in Spring 2025.
