The Art of Self-Discovery: Unlocking the Big 8 (Big 8-Part 1)
Workshop Focus: Take a closer look at who you are by exploring the Big 8 social identities—race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, socioeconomic status, ability, and religion—and how they show up in your everyday life and shape your college experience.
Description: Explore the Big 8 social identities and how they shape your everyday experiences and interactions. Through interactive activities, you’ll uncover the difference between social and personal identities and gain practical tools to navigate our complex social world with greater self-awareness and authenticity.

Beyond the Surface: Mapping Your Identity (Big 8-Part 2)
Workshop Focus: Build on your understanding of the Big 8 by reflecting on the visible and invisible parts of your identity, and how they shape the way you see the world and connect with others.
Description: Continue your journey of self-discovery by creating a personal identity map that brings the Big 8 social identities to life. This activity will help you visualize how different aspects of who you are shape your unique perspective and lived experiences. You’ll also explore which parts of your identity carry power and privilege, and which may be marginalized in broader society.

Blind Spots: Challenging Our Hidden Biases
Workshop Focus: Unpack the roots of bias by exploring the difference between implicit and explicit bias and reflecting on how social conditioning shapes our perceptions.
Description: Uncover the hidden forces that shape our thoughts and behaviors without conscious awareness. This workshop introduces the concepts of implicit and explicit bias, microaggressions, and stereotypes, using interactive activities to help participants recognize how social conditioning shapes their perceptions. Leave with practical tools to challenge assumptions and create more inclusive spaces in your everyday life.

Beyond Your Bubble: Who’s Missing?
Workshop focus: Building on the foundation from “Blind Spots: Challenging Our Hidden Biases ,” this session dives deeper into how unconscious bias affects our relationships, leadership, and sense of community.
Description: Explore how bias, identity, and lived experience influence group dynamics and belonging. Reflect on who’s present—and who’s missing—in your social circles, and learn inclusive leadership strategies to build authentic relationships and create spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and included.

MLK’s Nonviolence: Skills for Peaceful Conflict Resolution
Workshop focus: Learn crucial conflict resolution skills through the basis of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s philosophy.
Description: Participants will be given a brief introduction to Dr. King’s philosophy of Nonviolence, which shaped the Civil Rights movement. Participants will learn about Kingian Nonviolence and how to apply its philosophy in resolving conflicts in their own lives.

Challenging the Clique: Breaking Barriers to Build Better Communities
Workshop Focus: Develop skills to navigate challenges and communicate across differences by deepening your understanding of bias, identity, and group dynamics. This workshop emphasizes building awareness and practicing inclusive communication to foster more equitable and connected communities.
Description: This workshop helps participants navigate the challenges of communicating across differences by uncovering the hidden biases and perceptions that shape our social groups. Through interactive activities and reflective dialogue, you’ll explore how identity, bias, and lived experience influence who we include—and who we unintentionally leave out. Learn practical tools to challenge assumptions, communicate more effectively, and build inclusive communities where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
