About Multiracial Awareness Week
Since 2019, the Center for Race, Ethnicity, and Diversity Education (CREDE) has celebrated Multiracial Awareness Week during March. Events during Multiracial Awareness Week focus on bringing to light the perspectives, experiences, and identities of our multiracial community at Elon and in the wider world.
For Spring 2023, Multiracial Awareness Week will take place the week of March 21st to March 28th. Below, you will find details about this year’s events for the celebration. For any questions, please email George Dou at gdou@elon.edu.

College Coffee Celebration
Join the CREDE as we kick off the week at College Coffee! Come to our table to not only learn more about the week, but for a prize giveaway!

Lunch & Learn: Multiracial & the Arts
Join Professor Courtney Liu (Performing Arts) for a lunch discussion exploring multiracial heritage and artmaking. You can read more about Courtney’s work below and on her website.
Courtney Liu (MFA & BA, Duke University) is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Theatre at Elon University. Courtney has performed with the Broadway cast of the Phantom of the Opera, Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Queen of the Night, AEA & Disney Developmental labs, the Broadway Dance Lab, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Busch Gardens Theme Parks, Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, and the Cincinnati Ballet. Courtney’s choreography is inspired by her identity as a mixed-race Asian American. Her pedagogical research links inclusive pedagogy to performance psychology and has been presented at the Embodied Learning Summit, CORPS de Ballet International, the Appearance Matters Conference, and the National Dance Educators Organization.

Multiracial Trivia Night
Create a team of four to test your knowledge in our trivia night! Round topics will include trivia about Elon, pop culture, and prominent multiracial figures. There will be prizes for first, second, and third place. Small refreshments & snacks will be provided.
Time: March 22nd, 5:30 – 7 pm
Location: McKinnon 128 E & F
Panel Perspectives: Multiraciality at Elon & Beyond
The last event of Multiracial Awareness Week will feature a panel of students, faculty, and staff at Elon that will share a bit about their experiences being multiracial and how that has impacted them. Join us to learn more from our fellow community members about the multiracial experience. Food will be provided.
