2012 Campus Fest at Elon – Sept. 21

An event organized by several campus offices is an afternoon to visualize, demonstrate, articulate, taste, and celebrate cultures at Elon.

*****

Come to Young Commons on Sept. 21 to celebrate the many cultures that make Elon the inclusive community it is. 2012 Campus Fest is jointly sponsored by the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, the Multicultural Center, the Isabella Cannon International Centre, and El Centro de Español.

Who? Any person, class, group, or club has culture to contribute to campus life at Elon. Freshmen, upperclassmen, Greeks, athletes, international students, first-generation students, multicultural students, language groups, service groups, religious groups, social justice groups, political groups, outdoor groups and more.

What? An afternoon to visualize, demonstrate, articulate, taste, and celebrate cultures on campus. There will be entertainment on stage, local food, crafts and education, as well as tables all around the commons.

When? Friday, Sept. 21 from 3-7 p.m.

Where? Young Commons

Why?
Explore, demonstrate, and celebrate our rich and unique cultures. Create community. Think broadly about culture: ethnic, racial, country of origin, heritage, interests, identities.

How you can get involved? Organize tables; solicit interest and participation as individuals and classes. Bring your class! Please email truittcenter@elon.edu if you wish to register a table.

It is the Truitt Center’s hope that every student, faculty member and staff person will be able to make a connection and to recognize their own culture(s) at the fair. Its goal is to help all our members feel included in our community, visible, and welcome, and to celebrate who we are, individually and together. Bring your families!

The deadline for registration is Sept. 10 at 5 p.m.
