Maria Interiano '07 wins Best Host in TV awards competition

The School of Communications graduate was honored for work on Univision's "Despierta América."

Maria Teresa Interiano ’07 was named Best Host in the Favoritos del Publico portion of the TVyNovelas Awards, which are presented annually by Televisa and the magazine TVyNovelas. The competition honors the best Mexican television productions.

The Favoritos del Publico was introduced in 2013 as a way for fans to vote for their winners via Twitter. This year, Interiano, who hosts on Univision, was the fans’ choice.

Interiano was a student in the School of Communications, where she also worked as a reporter for then-Phoenix14News. In her professional career, she has served as the main correspondent for Univision and Telefutura’s most prominent live shows, including “Premio Juventud,” “Premio lo Nuestro,” “Latin Grammy” and the reality show “Nuestra Belleza Latina.” Interiano was also tapped as a producer and reporter for “Tombola,” a quick-hitting entertainment and news show.

She was honored as an Elon University Top 10 Under 10 Award recipient in 2012.
