Updates for the 2024 flu season

Learn steps to protect yourself and others from cold, flu and other viruses.

January and February tend to be part of the peak season for colds, flu and other viruses. Take steps to protect yourself and others. Follow the Guidance to Fight Spread of the Flu.. These strategies are effective in preventing the spread of many types of viruses and are good practices to follow every day.

Flu Vaccines

  •  If you have not received a flu vaccine this fall and you are medically able to receive one, we suggest you get one immediately.
  • It is not too late to receive a flu vaccine, but the sooner you receive the vaccine, the better your coverage.
  • Flu vaccines are widely available locally. The Flu Vaccine Finder is a useful tool to find a flu vaccine near campus. Note: enter the university zip code 27244; the CVS at 1149 University Drive is on the Elon Express bus route.
  • Flu vaccines are available to faculty and staff free at Faculty/Staff Health and Wellness Clinic..

There are university resources to support physical and mental health for students, faculty and staff (including the flu!)

Students

  • Student Health Services is open for in-person appointments for students (including weekends). Information about hours of operation and scheduling appointments may be found on the Student Health Services website. Note: Remember to bring your insurance card with you to your visit.
  • TimelyCare is available to students anywhere in the United States 24/7 – including all breaks! Information about  accessing all FREE Timely Care services can be found here.  “In the moment” mental health support is available 24/7 through “Talk Now” service of TimelyCare as well as the Crisis Counselor on Call available by calling (336) 278-2222.
  • Over-the-counter wellness items and medications are available on campus at Fountain Market in Clohan Hall.

Faculty/Staff

  • The Faculty/staff Health and Wellness Clinic is open for in-person appointments! Appointments can be scheduled on-line here  or call (336) 278-5569.
  • Teledoc Health Services provides virtual medical and mental health care for faculty/staff at reduced rates.
