Elon PA students attend and compete at the National AAPA Conference in Denver, Colorado

This year, the national event was held in Denver, Colorado, from May 15 to 19, and Elon PA was proudly represented by 14 students and two faculty members.

The month of May marked more than just the end of Spring Term for Elon’s Physician Assistant (PA) graduate program—it also meant participation in the annual American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) Conference.

This year, the national event was held in Denver, Colorado, from May 15 to 19, and Elon PA was proudly represented by 14 students and two faculty members.

While the conference showcases cutting-edge developments in medicine, offers professional workshops, and provides valuable networking and career opportunities, one of the most exciting highlights for students is the chance to compete on a national stage.

On Monday, May 19, second-year students Ellie Yakubu and Katrina Jackson, and first-year student James Whitham, competed in the National Medical Challenge Bowl, going head-to-head with teams from 89 other PA programs across the country.

The next day, Tuesday, May 20, Elon was one of 43 teams to compete in the National iScan Point-of-Care Ultrasound Competition. Representing Elon was the Phoenix Freq’s: Lina Meikle, Dani Meyen, Sav Summy, and Ellie Yakubu; and Phoenix Freq’s JV: Varenna Minshull, Lu Lugo, James Whitham, Trina Phan and Sukriti Rai.
