The teacher induction ceremony in the School of Education marks a milestone in the academic journey of teacher candidates. On Sept. 20, 2018, a new cohort of 63 teacher candidates was inducted into the teacher education program.

More than 1,700 of Elon's newest students were surrounded by friends and family Under the Oaks as faculty, staff and students celebrated the formal start of the academic year.

Planning Week marks the start of the academic year and provides an opportunity for faculty receiving funding from the Faculty Research and Development Committee to present their work.  

Jeffrey Carpenter, associate professor of education and director of the Teaching Fellows program, published the article in the peer-reviewed journal Learning, Media, & Technology. 

Coffey was selected as the 2018 recipient of the Bonnie E. Cone Early-Career Professorship of Teaching at the University of North Carolina Charlotte.

Elon President Connie Ledoux Book presented the medallion to two retired faculty members and two steadfast supporters of the university during an event marking the start of a new academic year. The university also recognized four named professorships during the event. 

School of Education Dean Ann Bullock was among eight new members announced this week for the group that advises and designs programming for teacher education programs. 

The summer enrichment experience for academically gifted students is facilitated by Elon's Master of Education program, with M.Ed. and special licensure candidates crafting curricula to meet a variety of student needs and goals for the graduate-level capstone course.
