Career Moves: Alum’s patience pays off at STAPLES Center

When his hope of working for the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles wasn’t an option, even after an internship there that saw Harrison Seeler assist with the logistics of a pop superstar’s memorial service, the Elon University alum heeded advice from the Office of Career Services – “be patient” – and he today works for one of the largest entertainment venues in the nation.

SEM 227 class donates $2,000 to local organizations

The Sport and Event Management 227 class donated a total of $2,000 from two spring semester class events. Class members split into groups to organize the "Bite'N Bid" pasta dinner/silent auction in support of Allied Churches of Alamance County, and the "Frosty Frolic" race in support of the Children's Home Society of North Carolina.

Hal Walker to serve as external reviewer at Gardner-Webb

Hal Walker, department chair of Sport and Event Management, was recently invited to serve as a five-year external reviewer for Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C., for the Department of Physical Education, Wellness and Sport Studies.

“Car Show” class event raises $1,685 for veterans organization

Members of the “Programming and Event Management” class in the Department of Sport and Event Management organized a “Car Show” event at the Holly Hill Mall in Burlington in November, raising $1,685 for the Walter B. Ellis American Legion Post 63.
