Religious Studies Alumni:  Where Are They Now?

What You Can Do with a Major in Religious Studies!

Erin Culp (2007):  After working as faculty advisor position for the NYLSC (National Young Leaders State Conference), Erin entered the Peace Corps.  She worked for three years in Moldova teaching English to Junior High and High School students. She has now been accepted into the Masters of Public Affairs porgram at Indiana University's School of Public and Environmental Affairs.

Erin Keys (2005):  Erin is in Atlanta where she is currently in her final year of a Masters of Divinity at Columbia Theological Seminary.  Since her time at Elon, Erin's interests have shifted from academic to more pastoral concerns.  Specifically, her experience as a Chaplain intern at Northside Hospital helped Erin to discover a deep interest in pastoral counseling and psycho-therapy.  Following her degree at Columbia, Erin plans to do a year long residency as a hospital chaplain.  Ultimately, she intends to obtain a final degree which will license her in counseling and family/marriage therapy. In her free time Erin enjoys reading fashion magazines, Russian novelists, and playing with her dog, Pisgah.

MistyPearson (2006):  "I have . . .  moved to Charlotte where I am working for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer as a fundraiser. Our organization supports those who have breast cancer but do not have the insurance or means to cover their medical needs. I will most likely go back to graduate school at some point in the future, probably to get my Masters in Social Work, but I need to take the time to figure out exactly what I want to do."

John Penniman (2005):  John graduated with a Masters of Theological Studies at Candler School of Theology (Emory University) with a concentration in Historical Theology.  John's current area of interest is in Augustine's theology of the Christian life.   Ultimately, John would like to teach at Elon...or some place like it!  In 2006, John was wedded to Erin Keys by the Rev. Dr. Jeff Pugh.  In his free time, John enjoys laughing with his wife and playing golf.

Becky Schrier (2006):  After working for a year with survivors of Hurricane Katrina with AmeriCorps, Becky is going to China with a program called Worldlink Education.  She will be studying Mandarin at the Academy of Chinese Language Studies.  She will be there for ten months.  She is hoping to eventually apply to Asian Studies Ph. D. programs.
