Elon University is a leading university in undergraduate research, and the Religious Studies Department includes several nationally recognized experts in Undergraduate Research in Religious Studies.
The Department encourages interested and committed students to conduct independent research with a faculty mentor, including Honors and Fellows projects for students.
The honors thesis should show evidence of engagement with a current scholarly discussion in an area of religious studies. While it need not culminate in a new contribution to the field, it should show an awareness of previous approaches to the topic or problem under study, how it is currently understood, why the topic is worthy of research, and present some informed and creative reflection upon the topic.

Request a Recommendation
We look forward to writing recommendations for internships, scholarships, study abroad, graduate school and employment. Writing a strong letter of recommendation, however, is time consuming. If you are requesting a recommendation from a Religious Studies faculty member, please use our Recommendation Request Form or click the link below to learn more.
