New Student Orientation Home

What to ExpectUnpacking on move-in day

Move-in day is Friday, August 29, 2008. If you live more than four hours from campus, you can begin the check-in process at 8 a.m. If you live less than four hours from campus, you can begin the check-in process at 10 a.m.

The New Student Orientation and Residence Life staffs will be working together on move-in day to provide all the information that you will need. Look for signs that will direct you. As a part of your check-in, you will receive a schedule of the events for the first few days and information on discounts from local merchants. During orientation, Elon will also host a number of local banks ready to set up accounts for new students.

Rest assured, we will not leave you floundering! Every member of our team will be able to answer your questions and/or direct you to someone who can address any concerns you may have. Learn how to use the most important resource at Elon -- our people!

For example, you'll meet Orientation Leaders, who are upperclassmen who will help you move in, answer questions and help get you acclimated to Elon. Your Orientation Group will consist of 15 students, led by an Orientation Leader. You will learn about each other and the campus.

Mark your calendar: Saturday August 30, 2008 at 9 a.m.
The Elon University New Student Convocation held Under the Oaks is your first official function as a college student. At Convocation, students, parents and faculty are introduced to each other as a community. Because this is such an important event in your college career, appropriate dress is required. Neat sport clothes (such as sundresses for females and slacks and button-down shirts for males) will do just fine.

The New Student Orientation office is here to get all of your questions answered, so please call us at the Orientation Hotline (336-278-7777) or e-mail us at compass@elon.edu.
