A Message from Student Government

Welcome, or welcome back. My name is Michael Swartz, and I am grateful to serve as your Student Body President for the 2026–2027 academic year.

What makes Elon special isn’t just the campus or the opportunities—it’s the people. It’s the late-night conversations that turn into real ideas, the organizations that bring people together, and the moments where someone speaks up and something actually changes. That energy is what Student Government exists to support.

One of the things that stands out most about our school is how many different experiences exist within one community. No two paths here look the same, yet they are constantly intersecting in ways that create connection, opportunity, and growth. That is what makes this place feel like more than just a university.

Student Government should reflect that. It should be something you can turn to, not just when you need something, but when you want to build something. Whether it is finding resources, sharing an idea, or getting more involved, SGA is here to help you take that next step.

This year, our focus is simple. We want to make SGA easier to understand, easier to access, and more present in everyday student life. That means being clear about what we offer, helping you figure out how to move an idea forward, and creating more opportunities for people to connect across campus.

You should see SGA in more places, not just in meetings, but in classrooms, at events, and in the spaces you’re already part of. This organization should feel visible, approachable, and connected to your experience.

If you’re not sure where to start, this website is a good place to begin. You can find information on funding, ways to get involved, and how SGA works with students and organizations.

At the end of the day, this is your Student Government. We’re here to listen, to connect, and to help you take the next step, whatever that looks like.

Looking forward to the year ahead,

Michael Swartz
