Computing can change the questions you ask in your major and what you can do with the answers. The Computer Science minor gives you a foundation in programming, then room to choose courses that connect with your interests. You might use those skills to build a tool, explore how a system works or create something with people in another field. You don’t need to know exactly where computing will fit into your work to begin studying it.

What You'll Study

Computer Science

You’ll begin with Computer Science I and II, then choose courses that take you further into computing. Depending on your interests, you might study software, databases, artificial intelligence or how people interact with technology. Along the way, you’ll practice breaking a complex problem into parts, testing an approach and improving it.

Connect it to Your Major

  • History: Develop tools for exploring digital archives and finding connections across sources.
  • Engineering: Use programming to analyze test results or develop software for a device you’re designing.
  • Performing Arts: Experiment with interactive elements that change how an audience experiences a performance.

These are possibilities, not prescribed combinations. The courses you choose can reflect the work you want to do.
