Pre-Award at a Glance
Before a grant is awarded, the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) helps ensure your proposal is complete, compliant, and competitive.
Getting Started:
Submit an Intent to Submit (I2S) form once you’ve identified a funding opportunity. OSP will follow up within 3 business days.
Timeline:
Final internal documents must be submitted to OSP by 8:00 AM 5 business days before submission. Aim to submit the proposal at least one day early.

Proposal Development:
OSP helps refine project scope, identify compliance needs (IRB, export controls), and outline required documents.
Budgeting:
OSP assists with allowable costs, salaries/fringe, indirects, and sponsor restrictions.
Internal Approval:
Complete the External Grant Authorization Form (signed by Chair/Supervisor and, if a course buyout is requested, Dean as well). This sign off is consider a final document and is due with the final internal documents date of 8:00 AM 5 business days before submission.
Submission:
Only OSP’s Authorized Organizational Representative can submit proposals—be available for last-minute updates.
