Navigating college can be challenging. Navigating college in recovery or while seeking recovery is even harder. This workshop will help faculty and staff be a safe space for students on their journey to recovery and combat stigma on campus.
Recovery is the process of change through which people improve their health and wellness, live self-directed lives and strive to reach their full potential. This workshop will discuss the concepts of recovery, stigma reduction, and how faculty and staff can help create a culture of recovery at Elon. Callie Kelly, Assistant Director for Substance Use Prevention; CJ Bugna, Assistant Director for Collegiate Recovery, and Ben Krasnow, President of Phoenix Free will facilitate this workshop. Phoenix Free is the All-Recovery Program on campus that connects students to resources, support and builds community for all students in recovery or seeking recovery from substance use, eating disorders, gambling and mental health challenges of any kind. We host all-recovery meetings and host substance free community building programming for students at Elon.
