No one can do it all by himself, and I wanted to do my part.
Hailing from a family of educators and leaders, Tony Foriest was inspired by the examples his parents had set in their community involvement. He grew up surrounded by racial inequality and became involved in civic organizations in high school, around the same time as the national Civil Rights Movement.
Foriest eventually worked his way up to becoming Chair of the Alamance County Democratic Party and decided to run for office in 2004. He served in the North Carolina Senate for two terms and also has participated as a board member for many local organizations.
Foriest sees himself as part of a long history of leaders “carrying the baton” of change and passing it off to future generations.
