LGBTQIA Alumni Network leadership

Mission

The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer, intersex, asexual and ally (LGBTQIA) Alumni Network is an official branch of the Office of Alumni Engagement. This affinity group unites and represents the interests of Elon University’s LGBTQIA alumni, undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff and families. We strive to improve the campus climate for future members of the Elon community by advocating on behalf of LGBTQIA issues, partnering with others, and promoting the university’s commitment to an inclusive and respectful community.

Purpose

  • To build and maintain community between the university, faculty, staff, students and fellow LGBTQIA alumni and their families
  • To educate the university community on LGBTQIA identities and issues
  • To promote multiculturalism and diversity on campus
  • To promote the LGBTQIA presence on campus
  • To promote the investment of time, talent, and finances in the alumni network and the university
  • To aid in LGBTQIA student recruitment and retention
  • To promote the professional development of Elon’s LGBTQIA undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni
  • To foster relationships with communities of diverse identities, cultures and affinities both within and beyond Elon
