The R.N. Ellington Health and Counseling Center offers medical and counseling services to the students, faculty and staff of Elon University. Providers are available during hours of operation to evaluate, treat and assist students and faculty and staff with their medical and mental health needs. Students are encouraged to seek services early in their illness or need for psychological services; early intervention can better position the Ellington Center staff to serve students.

Health Services offers walk-in and appointment services, including required appointments for physical examinations, gynecological exams, immunizations and allergy vaccine administration. Students who are ill may also make an appointment. To schedule an appointment with Health Services, call (336) 278-7230.  Walk-in times for students are Monday-Thursday 8:30 am until 6:00 pm, Friday, 8:30 am until 4:00 pm and Saturdays 11:00 am until 3:00 pm.  Limited appointments times are available Monday-Friday and should be scheduled by calling (336) 278-7230.  Students are urged to make appointments when possible; walk-in’s will be scheduled as soon as possible, although wait times may vary.

Counseling Services provides services on an appointment-only basis, except in the event of an emergency. To schedule an appointment with Counseling Services please call (336) 278-7280.  If students have a counseling crisis or emergency, they should contact Counseling Services during normal business hours (Monday-Friday- 8:00 am until 5:00 pm) or Campus Safety and Security at (336) 278-5555 in the evenings and on weekends. There is always a counselor on call (while residence halls are open) for students in crisis.

Students who must miss a scheduled appointment with Health or Counseling Services should call ahead to time to cancel or reschedule the appointment. There will be a  $25.00 charge for “no shows” for appointments which have not been cancelled or rescheduled prior to the appointment.

Student visits to the Health & Counseling Services are free of charge. There are nominal charges for medications, lab tests, procedures, medical supply items, and missed appointments. When the Health & Counseling staff orders x-rays, emergency treatments, or a referral to an outside provider, any charges incurred are the responsibility of the student.

Charges for services and medications incurred at Health Services are paid at time of visit. Fees may be paid by cash, check, Phoenix Card, Master Card or Visa.  If you do not have one of these methods of payments you may bill the fee to your student account and make the payment at the Bursar's office.

The Health & Counseling Center staff welcomes phone calls from parents. Please note that student health and counseling records are confidential and can only be released with the signed permission of the student.
