About Disabilities Services
Elon University is committed to the principle of equal opportunity. One of the ways we express that commitment is in our efforts to accommodate qualified students with disabilities as they face the challenges of university life. Faculty, staff, administrators and students work together to find approaches and accommodations that enable students to benefit from the variety of programs and activities on campus.
Location and Contact Information
The Office of Disabilities Resources regards all information about a student’s disability as confidential. This includes all notes, documentation, and electronic and paper correspondence. There is no permanent record kept regarding an individual’s status as a student with a disability; all disability-related files are destroyed five years after the last date of enrollment at Elon. All disability-related records are stored in secure files in Academic Support. Only the Disabilities Resources Director, Assistant Director and members of the Academic Support staff working directly with students with disabilities have access to these files.
Information related to a student’s disability is released to Elon’s faculty and staff members on a need-to-know basis; students registered with this office acknowledge that some level of disclosure may be necessary to provide appropriate accommodations.
