Research/Creative Interests

Adam Yoon Jae Kim is a diversity science teacher, scholar, and mentor. His scholarship focuses on identity, solidarity, and activism, with an emphasis on the experiences of adopted, racially minoritized, and queer communities.

Research/Creative Needs

Data cleaning and statistical analysis; literature search; project management; student’s own ideas!

Mentoring Style

  • One-on-one or in small groups, depending on the project
  • I typically collaborate with faculty from other institutions or other experts in the field to mentor students

Currently looking for a student to apply and work in these programs:

  • Any program/opportunity

I can mentor a student enrolled in 4998/4999 hours during these semesters:

  • Most Fall/Spring semesters – email me to ask
  • Summer Session I 2024
  • Summer Session II 2024

Student Qualifications

  • Given the emphasis of my work on individuals from minoritized backgrounds, I am particularly interested in working with individuals who have lived experiences that can inform that work. For instance, minoritized experiences relating to race (e.g., Asian, Black, Latine, Native, and/or multiracial experiences), gender, sexuality, adoption, migration, etc.
  • Students who are in the social sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, human service studies) are particularly well suited to work in my lab.

Interested? Please email me to request more information.
