Research/Creative Interests
My research seeks to understand how engagement in health behaviors (e.g., physical activity, sleep) and health-related attributes (e.g., aerobic fitness) can be leveraged to optimize cognitive functioning across the lifespan. In other words: how does a healthy body relate to a healthy brain? I am especially interested in the application of this work to classroom performance (learning, memory, attention, academic performance), mental health, and concussion recovery contexts.
What types of “data” do you commonly use?
Quantitative data; my most commonly used analyses are usually group comparisons via t-tests/ANOVAs and moderation/mediation via linear regressions.
What types of collaborations are you open to?
I am open to collaborating with anyone interested in health neuroscience or related fields!
What agencies, organizations, or foundations do you have experience with to apply for grants?
- NSF
- NIH
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- American College of Sports Medicine
- SHAPE America
- Society for Psychophysiological Research.
Student Qualifications
No prior research experience is necessary! I am excited to work with any students who are passionate about/interested in Exercise Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, or related fields and want to dive deeper into these interests via collaboration on research projects.
