Other Elon UR Opportunities

Aside from the research and funding opportunities available through the Undergraduate Research Program, Elon also offers several other ways for students to get involved in undergraduate research. We encourage you to explore the links below for more information.

The Lumen Prize

In their sophomore years, students may submit their applications for this highly competitive, $20,000 award during the Spring term. Lumen applicants map out their vision for their junior and senior years, developing a plan for coursework, research, creative productions or performances, service projects, travel, summer workshops or institutes, and international study or internships. A committee of faculty from across the institution determines its selections based on the intellectual/creative merit, distinction, and coherence of the proposal, as well as those qualities of intellectual passion, commitment, and experience of the applicant. The Cavarretta Award

The Daniel Cavarretta Award is an annual award offered by the current Lumen Scholars to a rising junior or senior outside the Lumen program. The Daniel Cavarretta award supports undergraduate scholars at Elon University in their intellectual journey, encouraging them to engage in opportunities for scholarly development. The award provides $1,000 to support a student in their proposed research, scholarship, or creative project or experience over the course of a single academic year. The Leadership Prize

The Leadership Prize was established in 2015 through a gift from Isabella Cannon. The Leadership Prize is intended to support students who undertake research in the community that has the potential to facilitate change. Undergraduate students from all areas of study are invited to apply for The Leadership Prize during the fall semester of their junior year. Please click HERE to access the Leadership Prize website.

The Center for Research on Global Engagement

The Center for Research on Global Engagement aims to foster high quality scholarship related to research on global engagement on campus, as well as develop national and international partnerships, establish and share researched best practices in global education, enhance our position as a leader in global education, promote the integration of global education into the Elon curriculum, and support Elon’s mission to prepare students to be global citizens.
