Research/Creative Interests

I am interested in how students learn statistics, specifically how issues around diversity, equity, and inclusion affect student learning of statistics. Additionally, I am interested in how we as mathematics educators can work to better prepare our K-12 preservice teachers to teach statistics that they will be required to teach one day.

Research/Creative Needs

I use a mix of both qualitative and quantitative research methods. I often need students to help me collect and organize data (both qualitative and quantitative), analyze data, and help write research reports.

Student Qualifications

My research is in the intersections of statistics and education, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion. I am pretty open to the kinds of students to mentor. I have mentored statistics majors as well as middle grades and elementary education majors.
I am particularly interested in mentoring first generation college students.
