Research/Creative Interests
My own research is at the intersections of art history and visual culture, gender and sexuality studies, and popular culture, mostly in modern and contemporary France, Japan, and the US. I teach more broadly (including issues of racism, various critical theories, and museum politics) and have worked with a wide variety of students on a wide variety of projects under these umbrellas.
What types of collaborations are you open to?
I try not to limit my collaborations by the people I might collaborate with–I’m open to considering any possibility and then assessing whether or not I’m a good fit for it.
Student Qualifications
- Most students I’ve worked with have been majors or minors in Art History; History; Museum Studies and Public History; Women’s, Gender, and Sexualities Studies; African and African-American Studies; American Studies; Asian Studies; International and Global Studies; Philosophy; Political Science; Poverty and Social Justice; Religious Studies; English; Performing Arts; Art; and Communications (especially Cinema and TV Studies but also other areas).
- I love mentoring students, and I believe a good liberal arts education, including undergraduate research, should be accessible to *anyone* who wants it, regardless of their circumstances or background.
