How can you love God and use the word hate?

Tamara Kersey spent most of her childhood entirely surrounded by other Black folks. She attended an all-Black elementary school where she learned Black history and the narrative of racial tension in the US.

During her first year in high school, Tamara participated in a sit-in protest against the school newspaper for including a depiction of a Black-racial stereotype. Since then, she gravitated towards supporting marginalized communities.

As an adult, Tamara is a co-founding member of Alamance Pride, an employee of the healthcare industry, and a clergywoman. She continues to be an advocate for the Black community as well as the LGBTQIA+ community by showing up as an ally.
