Cheryl Williams’s father, Mr. Corbett, was the owner of the oldest Black-owned barbershop in Burlington, the Palace Barber Shop, for over 50 years. When her father passed, Cheryl remembers how many people approached her to express their gratitude for her father’s decades of service to the community.
Cheryl is a landlord, and all of her tenant are entrepreneurs. They all have the common goal of being successful so they have something to leave their families when they’re gone. She pushes her tenants to work hard, stay positive, and ignore the people who do not believe in them. She tells them that they will have to make sacrifices, but they have to keep their goal in mind.
Cheryl grew up watching her Dad give to his community. She has followed in his footsteps, believing that you have to give back to your community to see it grow.
