Summary

This case study, within the book Design Against Racism: Creating Work That Transforms Communities by Omari Souza, shares the story of the Center’s student-led “Redesigning for Equity and Social Justice Workshop” series. Designed in partnership with the Center for Race, Diversity and Ethnicity Education in 2020, the series infuses campus, local, and participant storytelling with equity-design practices. On- and off-campus participants learn about implicit bias, cycles of oppression, add explorer, opportunities for creating cycles of liberation. Findings from over four years of data that highlight its value and recommendations for campuses interested in pursuing student-led social justice education are provided.
